Is the Universe a Sophisticated Simulation? Neil deGrasse Tyson and other scientists discuss the possibility | Ancient Code

An interesting question in the below linked article.  The reality is — if our manifest causal universe is either a computer simulation or an aspect of an overarching consciousness, then as we may only measure and interpret data via instrumentation that itself is a part of the same manifestation, then we may only ever gather empirical data as allowed for by the simulation/consciousness.  In short, unless we can measure from outside of the universe, we will never really be able to define what the universe is.  It may all be but “a dream within a dream”, as Edgar Allen Poe wrote.

    1. The perils of Cartesian doubt, when aligned with the requirements of quantum physics for a consciousness to have observed the manifestation of matter can easily lead to Solipsism. There is no escape from such scepticism, other than to embrace life and make the most of it. If it is all but a dream, or a computer simulation, then at least you have made the most of it.

You may enjoy the discussion as to the importance of Loki in my latest work ‘the Left-hand of Odin’.

      1. Ooh, I need to go read that. Like now. 🙂
And yes, if this is just a dream or something similar, it’s time to enjoy it. Whatever life actually is (and I have several ideas about it) then I’ve had enough mucking about. If it isn’t something that adds to my happiness, then adios to it.
